Community Connect
Language Connect recognises and values its employees as its most important asset and we are committed to providing staff with a safe and healthy working environment at all times. We are an equal opportunities employer and we ensure that no one receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, sexual orientation, age or disability. Since diversity is key to our business as a language services agency we make sure that we take all opportunities to promote and maximise it.
Language Connect believes it is important to consult with its employees to create and design policies and initiatives that have company-wide impact. In 2010, we introduced Employee Engagement surveys. The results of which influence forthcoming Community Connect issues where appropriate.
Language Connect also runs an internship programme for language students. If you are interested in a three month work placement to learn the ins and outs of the language services industry, please click here for more information.
Community

Language Connect is proud to be a member of the Business Language Champions scheme, helping school children realise the benefits of learning another language by interacting with the local business community. We have promoted language learning by creating interactive workshops which show students real-life applications for using languages in the workplace.

The interactive workshops focus on promoting the different career opportunities available in the translation and interpreting services industry to the students. The first workshops were held in 2010 and have continued each year at local schools. You can read more about it here.
Following the success of the workshops, Language Connect has developed a work experience programme carefully designed to introduce students to the core elements involved in running a language business. You can read more about it in Language Connect's Blog.
Environment
Language Connect is committed to operating its business in a sustainable manner by carefully monitoring its impact on the environment and implementing procedures to reduce and, wherever possible, eliminate unnecessary use of natural resources. We have implemented a list of practical steps we can take to conserve resources and minimize our consumption on a daily basis – these include recycling waste paper, ensuring that all staff turn their computer monitors off at the end of each day and recycling used printer cartridges.

We are working with Global Action Plan (GAP) – an award-winning charity offering practical solutions to help reduce carbon emissions – to reduce our office-based energy consumption.
